The “War” Inside

Maria is a powerhouse whose angelic vocals and deeply layered performance bring Star’s struggle, humanity, and heart to vivid life.
Maria, you are a powerhouse. The song “War” is one of my favorite songs because it is such a powerful one. The struggle and contradiction Star goes through of not wanting to become a fully fledged vampire, but at the same time wanting to give up fighting and give up her humanity, even when she knows the cost of both, is beautifully portrayed.
Your vocals are angelic, and your take on Star—from the backstory and depth you add to the interactions you have with other characters—had me crying and jaw-dropped.
The big smile you have on during curtain call is beautiful to see. I love seeing you achieve your dreams; it is truly a beautiful thing. The character Star is truly fitting for you in many ways, from the acting to the vocals, and I can’t wait to tell you how much I love what you do.
Meeting you at the stage door on April 15 is a memory I will cherish. It was my first stage door experience, and you made me feel so welcomed into the environment.
The presence and energy the actors bring on and off the stage, both during matinee and evening shows, make you feel like you are part of the story with them.
I haven’t met everyone yet, but to the ones I have met, everyone is genuinely so sweet and appreciative of the fans. I am a genuinely shy person, but the cast makes you feel like you are part of a family.
